HTC to launch more entry-level smartphones in Q1, 2015

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC has said that it will focus more on entry-level 4G devices in Q1 2015, adding that the company will promote these as well as specially designed models online. That's a marketing strategy similar to the one followed by China’s Xiaomi, which recently became the world’s third largest smartphone vendor.

According to Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia, the company is also expecting a double digit growth in shipments next year. He also noted that sales of HTC's RE mini camera, which was launched earlier this month, have been strong, with the company expecting over 20,000 units to be sold by the end of the year.

"HTC began to market its mid-range HTC Desire 820 dual-sim in cooperation with Chunghaw Telecom (CHT) in November and will release HTC Desire 820 single-SIM in January 2015”, Tong said.

Hello,

I have recently purchase a Q7 Android TV Box from Geekbuying,http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Q7-TV...ck-324259.html
After pressing the recovery button on the back of the device it will no longer work, it only displays a black image and remains that way.
After searching through most of the threads related i have decided to flash the firmware .
I am using Rockchip Batch Tool v1.7 to flash the firmware.
The firmware is http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php.../#.Uxp1C4UVAdE.
In order to enter recovery i plugged in the micro usb cable while holding the recovery button pressed. The square in the Rockchip Batch Tool turns GREEN and it recognise the device.
After that i clicked Upgrade/Restore. Eventually i receive the error "Download firmware fail " in Rockchip Batch tool, image below.

Tried other stock roms and custom roms specifically for my type of device, same error every time : ""Download firmware fail ""
What am i doing wrong? Can it be fixed or is it bricked permanently?

What it takes to win the Ideaspace startup competition

Do you have a business idea you want to turn into reality? Try pitching it to Philippine accelerator Ideaspace Foundation.

Ideaspace is holding the biggest startup competition in the Philippines where it will choose 10 startups out of a pool of hundreds to undergo a six-week incubation program.

At stake is at least PHP 1 million (US$22,340) worth of monetary and in-kind benefits. The winners will get seed investment of PHP 500,000 (US$11,170), office space, a housing option, mentorship on financial modeling and costing, marketing, design, and legal advice. The startups’ founders will be made to undergo an entrepreneurship program at the Philippines’ Asian Institute of Management. Other support will also be given in terms of incorporation, intellectual property protection, and possible follow-on funding.

“In emerging markets where there’s still much room for growth in terms of technology startup investing, competitions such as this one can help democratize access to funding,” Ideaspace president Earl Martin Valencia tells Tech in Asia. “At the same time, we’re spurring interest in all sides of the startup ecosystem.”

“Previously, funding is limited to those already in the know who are mostly based in key cities where startup activities are already popular. Combined with our grassroots advocacy, we’re helping foster the country’s innovation funnel and making it accessible to more people,” he adds.

In the past two years, Ideaspace has invested in 28 companies focusing on innovations that address emerging market needs. Some of these companies have received global attention like SALt, which aims to light up poor homes in off-grid areas through a lamp powered by salt and water.
